British actor, who made his name in silent films, working for Hepworth Pictures alongside other regulars such as Alma Taylor, Violet Hopson, James Carew and Gerald Ames.

Between 1912 and 1926 MacAndrews appeared in over 70 shorts and features, in films such as The Heart of Midlothian (1914), Barnaby Rudge (1915), Far From The Madding Crowd (1915), Alf’s Button (1920), Helen of Four Gates (1920), Comin’ Through The Rye (1923), What The Butler Saw (1924) and (his last) The House of Marney (1926).

This is a fine vintage sepia postcard of a brooding Macandrews (identified as "Mr John Mac Andrews of the Hepworth Stock Company"), signed across a lighter area of the image in dark blue fountain pen ink, In good overall condition. (To the reverse is a note from the original collector that says "I bought this when I was at Hepworth's offices on 2nd October, 1920").
