Richardson, Ralph   (1902-1983)
Richardson, Ralph Distinguished stage and screen actor.

An extraordinary collection of 6 letters, 1 correspondence card and 3 brief notes, all handwritten in ink to a very young lady, Carol Pollard, who lived with her parents in Reading.  The collection begins in 1930 when Richardson was 28 and Carol Pollard was no more than 18 – she had been awarded her school certificate (present in the collection) the year before. We can only speculate on the nature of their relationship, probably entirely innocent, though Richardson, an unlikely-looking ladies’man, was then married to Muriel Hewitt, already showing the symptoms of a fatal neurological disease that would finally take her life in 1942.
