British Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990.
Thatcher enjoyed the distinction of being Britain’s first woman Prime Minister and also the longest serving in that office.This is an exceptional typed and signed letter, as Prime Minister, in an 8.25" x 6" sheet of 10 Downing Street notepaper (29 April, 1986) in which Thatcher thanks The Earl of Dudley* for a letter of support.
It reads (in full):
Dear Lord Dudley,
Thank you for your letter of 24 April about the Goverment's decision to support the United States' action against Libya.
This was a very difficult decision, but I am in no doubt it was the right one.
I am very grateful for your kind words of support
The signature and the name of the recipient are in blue fountain pen ink. One correspondence fold. In excellent condition.
