Maurice Bejart
Maurice Bejart

French-born dancer, choreographer and opera director who ran the Béjart Ballet Lausanne in Switzerland.

Béjart's greatest masterpiece was his choreography of Maurice Ravel's "Bolero." Created in 1960 for the Yugoslav ballerina Duška Sifnios, the dance features a dancer on a tabletop, surrounded by seated men, who slowly participate in the dance, culminating in a climactic union of the dancers atop the table.

The version danced by the magnificent Sylvie Guillem, from the Paris Opera ballet, is one of the very best.

It can be watched in all its glory on YouTube

The male dancers are, I am sure, excellent, but you won’t be able to take your eyes off Sylvie Guillem for a second. That glorious red hair!

This is a bold signature in black ink on a 6" x4" white card.  The signature was obtained in person at the Sadler's Wells Theatre in London in March 1993. In excellent condition. SCARCE.
